Christmas Resources December 1, 2011

Posted by admin in : News , add a comment

As it’s now December I thought it was worth reminding everyone that you can access all our Christmas Activities (including non-religious material) on this page of the site.

In addition specific RE Christmas-themed resources can be viewed here.

As always, any contributions to these sections would be gratefully received. I will attempt to update these pages pretty regularly as new material arrives.

Happy 13th Birthday Primary Resources! November 15, 2011

Posted by admin in : News , 1 comment so far

I usually let these anniversaries slide by without mentioning them but I guess the thirteenth birthday of the site is a good a landmark to celebrate as any.

What started initially as a small collection of my own teaching resources has blossomed into a huge repository of over 2.5GB of material, submitted by teachers from all over the world.

Almost 3,000 people have had their resources included on the site since it went online in 1998. I’d like to say a great big thank-you to each and every one of them as well as all the many other people who have sent in contributions that couldn’t be included. You are the ones who have made the site a success and such a useful resource for other teachers.

Just last month, there were 1.88 million visitors to the site downloading a whopping total of two terabytes of data between them. My thanks go to our webhosts RM.com who very kindly support the site and enable the wonderful material you’ve all created to make it into the hands of primary teachers all around the world.

Forums Back Online March 13, 2011

Like the photo section, the forums were taken offline a while back due to hosting issues. Again, due to user feedback, I’ve taken the opportunity to reinstall the message boards, on a trial basis, during the move to the new secondary web hosts.

The new Primary Forums are available here.

We’re starting from scratch again so please feel free to start some new threads on the boards. You’ll need to register a new account in order to post.

Photo Section Back Online March 4, 2011

We had to take our photograph section offline quite some time ago due to hosting issues. It was quite a popular facility and I’ve received regular requests to bring it back. Now that I’ve moved all of the Primary Resources sister sites to a different website host I’ve been able to set up a replacement library of photographs.

The new Primary Displays site is available here.

It includes all the photographs of displays that were in the previous image library. I’ll also be adding new material soon from the backlog of photos that continued to be contributed even when the section was closed.

The original photo section had a lot of other content, mainly in the form of themed photographs related to specific subject areas. I’ll be gradually adding much of this material to the main Primary Resources website over the next few weeks.

Jared Eccles sent in this St. David’s Day Assembly. I’ve included it in the next update but as that won’t go online until the end of the week I’ve popped a link to the file here for anyone who wants to use it tomorrow.

World Cup 2010 Resources June 7, 2010

Posted by admin in : News , add a comment

Just a quick reminder that all our World Cup 2010 related football resources (together with general football material and files from previous tournaments) are located on this page of the site. I’ve added several new files today to that page, as part of the next site update. I plan to upload new World Cup related resources  as and when they’re sent in so teachers can get the maximum use out of the material. If you’ve produced anything you’d like to share with other teachers then please send it in to the site.

2,500 contributors…. and counting… February 4, 2010

It’s been a while since I last did one of these (or indeed these)…

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to contribute to Primary Resources over the past eleven years. Your material has helped teachers across and the UK and all over the world. Please keep the resources coming (and I’ll keep on adding them!)

Some of you may have noticed that the “daily” links blog is now actually getting updated again. Every day I’ll be posting a new link to a free online resource suitable for primary teachers and students. I’ve put enough sites in the system to last until the end of the month but I’m always keen to hear of any other freely accessible sites teachers have found useful. If you’ve got any suggestions of links I could include then please send me an email.
